Due to cyclonic rains, majority of the areas in Gajuwaka are submerged in water. Low lying areas in Gajuwaka, Pedagantyada, Sriharipuram, Malkapuram, and Scindia are submerged in flood waters. The other areas which were severely hit by the rainy waters include HB Colony, Dairy Colony, Rickshaw Colony, Balacheruvu, Ramachandranagar and the authorities have evacuated the victims to relief camps. They provided food packets, water. The Revenue Municipal administration has taken up relief operations on war footing.

The District Joint Collector Sultania, Municipal Commissioner GSN Murty, Pedagantyada MRO Jyothi Madhavi and Prabahakararao have visited the flood hit areas. The Minister for Commercial Taxes, Konathala Ramakrishna, MLA Tippala Gurumurthy Reddy and District Collector, Praveen Prakash has visited on Saturday in the areas of Pedagantyada. The primary estimates prepared by the Visakhapatnam district administration claims Rs.100 crores damage due to the recent heavy rains and flood.
