Speeding Auto rickshaw collides with lorry from rear
August 15, 2007This incident would be a lesson for auto-commuters travel in a heavily loaded auto rickshaw to save few minutes of their time. Four people died, three on the spot and another when having treatment at hospital when an auto rickshaw collied a lorry from the rear. The incident occurred on the National Highway 5. P Srinivas, the auto rickshaw driver was on his way to NAD Kotha Road from Gajuwaka with five passengers - three seated at the rear and two on either sides of the driver. The speeding auto rickshaw could not be controlled when a lorry was taking a turn near Autonagar junction on the National Highway 5. The impact due to the collision was heard around and people on the road came to the rescue. 108 Emergency Service was called upon and the ambulance came in no time.
Three passengers sitting at the read died on the spot. An ATM Guard who is sitting to the left of the driver survived with injuries. The badly hurt driver too managed to survive but the man to the right, a resident of the Gopalapatnam region died battled for life when getting treatment at the hospital but later died.
The incident caused tension and grief in the region. Speeding autos heavily crowded would give very less comfort to the driver when driving which leads to major casualties like these. The Gajuwaka Traffic Police rushed to the spot and investigation is on. The Lorry driver is taken into custody and the lorry is seized.
